The design inspiration of the art museum is taken from the Walled City of Jaipur. The UNESCO World Heritage site - Jaipur, is famous for it's architectural details, heritage aesthetics and for the crafts that city holds as the most valuable element. To design Palette Palace, the idea was to get inspired from the different crafts and craftsmen of Jaipur and design an art museum which not just exhibits the value of these crafts but also gives a chance to it's visitors to see the techniques, process and perform the craft themselves. This can make the space experiential and interactive for the visitors. Crafts like block printing and lac bangle making were shortlisted for the workshop spaces. These crafts also holds a great value for the sustainable methods and material usage. Traditionally performed block printing is still done of the natural fabrics like cotton, muslin and linen, also the dyes are the natural color pigments that are used for the chappai. On the other hand, lac is itself considered as an organic resin, which is extracted from the sap of a tree.

The site incorporates architectural features like courtyards,
open-air corridors, verandas, and strategically
positioned windows
to harness natural airflow for
maintaining
pleasant indoor temperatures.

The site employs traditional materials like stone,
lime plaster, lime mortar,
Kota stone, which
have the property
of absorbing heat during the day
and releasing it gradually at night.
This natural thermal mass helps
regulate indoor temperatures,
reducing reliance
on artificial heating
or cooling systems.

Energy efficiency is achieved by using some of the
existing electrical fixtures and
by implementing
the use of smart fixtures to
help conserve
the energy.
