TRESSLORE
"An installation which depicts the nostalgic story of a fabric"

Nostalgia is like a grammar lesson. You find the present tense but the past perfect! The idea behind creating this installation is to understand nostalgia from a fabric’s perspective. For us, nostalgia is the memories that are related to our personal feelings like happiness and sorrow. For a fabric, nostalgia is the process from which it goes through. The journey of a fabric comprises a lot of stages and here the message conveyed is that the right side of the fabric has its journey’s beginning and the face depicts the present. The nostalgic part (manufacturing process of the fabric from which it goes through) is depicted through the pleats.

Used waste pieces of fabric to design and explore form generation for the installation involved a creative and sustainable approach.

During the exploration process, several fabric techniques were learned and utilized to enhance the design and execution of the installation.

This method not only repurposed the materials but also allowed us to create unique and innovative design possibilities.
After extensive exploration, we learned and experimented with various fabric stitches to design the hair lock for the face.
